Her View: Antarctica And The Experience

leave a comment

Now that she has visited Antarctica’s frigid regions, this ninety-one year-old has traveled to all four corners of the world. She wasn?t going to rely on someone else?s vision of the land, as found in magazines or on television, she wanted to see it for herself. She?d been to this continent twice before this trip, but this was the first time she?d actually seen Antarctica. They may never have touched down, but they certainly flew above it.

The plane flew over Antarctica for four hours and she witnessed glaciers, fjords and mountain passes. For a better view, the pilot allowed the plane to descend to just about 300 feet above the ground. She and her other passengers saw a mountain range dressed in fog. The clear sky and bright sun made for perfect viewing weather. Because it was early in March, they were traveling at the end of the Antarctic Summer. The air temperatures were still far below zero. The passengers were able to hear a continent researcher lecture during the flight.

One of the things this lifelong birder really wanted to see was the penguins. She didn?t see any on the flight, but her daughter did. The daughter was sitting at a different window. They took a ship to the Falkland Islands. These are off the coast of Argentina. She took a boat to the East Falkland Islands, where she was able to see hundreds of Magellan penguins on one beach. Of all the penguin species, Magellans are the tallest.

After flying for sixteen hours from the United States, their cruise started in a South American city. In addition to touring South American ports of call, passengers were invited to take a dip in the ship?s pool. The ninety-one year-old jumped right in, and earned herself a certificate for doing so, without worrying about the frigid temperatures.

After docking in Chile, the passengers were driven to Santiago, where they continued to tour. Then they flew to Rio. Perfect weather accompanied the three week cruise. All passengers saw the Southern Cross, a notoriously difficult to find constellation, in the clear night sky.

She?d been to South American prior to this trip. Our ninety-one year-old tourist centered her visit on a major river cruise and one big city. Branching out from that major river, she’d witnessed the rain forest destruction and loss of bird habitat. She has also visited Africa and gone on a Safari. She’s been to, also. So, Antarctica was the only continent she had not been to. Her plan to see all the continents was finalized by traveling to Antarctica.

How To Choose The Best Monterey Bay Hotels

leave a comment

There is a beautiful little oceanside town called Monterey, California. The monterey bay hotels are something of dreams and offer many wonderful amenities. More charm and charisma never came out of such a small town, and a trip there will both refresh and de-stress you and your family.

Since it is a hugely popular place, it can be hard to sometimes choose where to stay. If you reserve a room directly on the coastline, you will pay more, but the view from the rooms is spectacular. By staying a little bit inland, you can save some money and have a short walk to the beach. Depending on where you are staying, you will be able to hear the ocean waves at night as well.

If you want the complete glamour experience of a five-star hotel, there are several to choose from. They offer wonderful features like rooftop hot tubs, full day-spas and five-star restaurant eating. By order, they will also bring breakfast to you in bed!

Even if you don’t need the completely glamorous experience, you can also find a very price conscious motel for great rates in the same area. These will not have direct ocean views most of the time but you will have access to a continental breakfast with delicious treats.

When it comes to the coast, it’s impossible to get a bad vista point. The ocean breezes and wonderful salty air make an atmosphere that cannot be duplicated anywhere else. The ocean is the most cost-effective and best part of the trip: it’s free and absolutely beautiful. If you do stay in an oceanside hotel, many of them have certain areas of the beach reserved for only their guests.

For the best price and perfect budget rate, first shop at an online travel discount site. They are able to work directly with the hotels, reserving their excess rooms at a discounted rate. Hotels do not like to have empty rooms and sometimes they use these companies to make sure their hotels are full.

On your next trip to any of the Monterey bay hotels, remember to pack for slight chills at night and beautiful weather during the day. No where else will you find such a combination of warm and cold all in the same day. And by using a discount site to combine your hotel reservations, flights, and car rentals, your pocketbook will enjoy the trip too.

How To Know The Best Facial Treatment For Your Skin

leave a comment

Whether you’re in a high-end facial salon or an economical one, the big question is still there: with the great array of facial treatments provided by salons, which is the right one for you?

A facial treatment, which follows second to massage as the most widely sought spa services, is a deep-cleansing treatment of the face and neck to help tone, exfoliate, and nourish the skin to make it healthy and glowing.

Choosing a good facial treatment can be a little frustrating especially for first-timers. The minute you come into a facial salon, you will be wowed with a spa menu that’s filled with different facial treatments available. And sure, they all sound nice, which makes it still more tricky to determine which one is which. Facial treatments may come with unique names depending on the salon, but oftentimes, several of them mean the same thing and follow the basic principles – cleansing, skin analysis, exfoliation, extraction of blackhead and/or whiteheads (although this step is optional), facial massage, mask application, and toner/moisturizer application. Facial treatments vary on their prices, the products used, and the various add-ons that each salon offers to make the facial treatment more personalized and unique.

Then, how to select the appropriate facial treatment?

Although all facial treatments look so promising, no single treatment ensures the same outcomes to everybody. What may work for many do not necessarily mean would work for you.

SKIN TYPE. Right before you dive into that facial bed and give up your skin’s fate to the hands of the therapist, see to it that you have your skin analyzed. Prior to any facial treatment, it is extremely critical that you get a consultation with a registered and professional aesthetician or facial therapist to talk over your present skin problems, condition, and your daily skin care regimen. You will also determine the type of skin you have – dry, oily, sensitive, normal, and combination. In this way, you can keep yourself from avoidable damage of skin treatment not suitable for your skin type. Keep in mind that various skin types demand unique attention or facial treatment like for example, an acne-prone skin should not try facial scrub as it will just stimulate adverse reactions to the skin and tear skin tissue making your skin more bacteria-prone.

SKIN CARE PRODUCTS. Alright, it’s never easy to choose what works best when everything is potentially good. A couple of things to deal with – your skin demands and skin type.

When getting a facial treatment, see to it that you have an idea of what products they’re utilizing. For whatever it takes, take time to get-to-know the products before they even touch your skin. Do you want to reduce the appearance of fine lines or wrinkle on your face? Do you want to take years off on your looks? Is your skin dry and demands extra hydrating? Are you highly sensitive to certain ingredients? Whatever you pick out, only see to it that they address what your skin needs and not just for the sake of utilizing a particular product because Hollywood stars use it.

It’s always safer to go for skin care products that are made from natural, pure ingredients than those that are chemically-manufactured. Take time to explore and choose products that are gentle to the skin.

TREATMENT PRICE. Usually this is the major make-or-break component that helps people decide on what facial treatment to pick out. You can always try a facial treatment that costs you a pretty penny, but, of course, depends on your budget. For one thing, while some facial treatments observe the same procedures but go by various names, they may vary in prices dependent to the quality of products use, the kind of cream or essential oils, the salon/spa itself, and the special add-ons like paraffin eye treatment, facial steam or maybe an extra mask application.

Don’t Miss The Hilton Head Island Lighthouse Museum

leave a comment

The distinctive red and white day mark of the Hilton Head Island Lighthouse stands out from its surroundings like a giant 90 foot, barber pole. It is so easily recognized that it has in fact become the unofficial symbol of Hilton Head Island. It is also the official logo of the Horizon Heritage PGA golf tournament, held every year in April on the Island.

Visitors who undertake the hike to the curio shop at the top testify that it is every bit of 90 feet too. 114 steps to be exact, with a museum built into the walls at a landing every 10 steps. “Walking up all those stairs is very tiring,” as one visitor put it, “If you have bad knees, I wouldn’t recommend it. The view, however, is awesome!”

The Museum

There’s a landing every 10 steps where you’ll find another facet of the Legends Tour museum on display. Step and study, step and study – with this gradual ascent you’re at the top in no time at all. The displays are rotated on a seasonal basis so there’s always something new for your return visits.

You’ll get the inside story on the creation of the lighthouse and learn the ancient history of the Island from artifacts dating back 3000 to 5000 B.C. There’s also a big emphasis on how the Island was found and developed by William Hilton In 1663 and on how the Civil War impacted life on Hilton Head.

Captain Hilton managed to find the Island without the benefit of the lighthouse on a voyage of exploration up the Atlantic coast. He was en-route from Barbados and decided to spend some time looking for suitable plantation land before heading home to England. The French and Spanish predated him, but the Island was deserted when he came ashore and staked a claim for England. He called it “Hilton’s Headland” and the name stuck.

The Gift Shop

The lighthouse climb may be “breathtaking”, but the view from the top is even more so. You can catch your breath in the little souvenir shop which occupies every square inch of the Watch Room (lighthouse terminology). “The Island’s most elevated shopping experience,” is the way some have described it. Over 2,000 items are on sale, many of them crafted specifically for the Hilton Head Lighthouse. The prices are not bad at all.

“Shop At The Top” is another way to put it. It is in fact the only U.S. lighthouse that makes you work for your gifts in this fashion. But that’s a big part of its charm. Constructed in 1970, it is the only U.S. lighthouse that dates from the 20th Century, the last one built in the last 1800s. Today it stands as the distinguishing landmark of the Sea Pines Plantation at the South end of Hilton Head. But more than just a “pretty face,” its beacon is also the landmark for vessels as far out from shore as 15 miles.

On your next vacation to the Island, be sure to include a visit to the Hilton Head Island lighthouse! It’s one of the most exciting Hilton Head Island attractions for the whole family. To learn more about the creation of the Hilton Head Island lighthouse and how it has become the unofficial logo of the #1 vacation destination in the continental United States follow the links below.

The Functionality Foreclosure and Repossession in UK Property Investment

leave a comment

The UK Property Investment repossession and foreclosures have many differences from each other. UK’s laws are more of “the people who falls in their mortgage” and less on the side of “what the contract exactly says”. First of all, you should know the various differences between foreclosure and repossession.

In the UK Property Investment repossession, according to the modified Building Societies Act 1997, the mortgage companies “took back” the house, sell it, and use the proceeds to pay off the total amount of the money that you owed them, and send the balance to the borrower. The law also stated that repossession is to “take reasonable precautions to obtain the true market value of the mortgage property”. It is common yet not needed by the mortgage company to get a court order for the repossession. The company also doesn’t sell the property via auction because the Courts have concluded that this is not the best way to obtain the true market value.

In comparison with the foreclosure, the mortgage companies also “took back” the house and sell it but the entire proceeds will be kept by them. This is just a possibility for the result of a Court Order, and it’s unheard of for the courts to grant these nowadays – normally they only ever grant repossession orders.

A myth in UK Property Investment talks about “hands the keys back myth”. This means that if you’re behind the mortgage payments, you can stop the clock of interest by handing the keys back to its owner. However, this would not stop them from paying the mortgage but there are still a lot of people who do this.

For the investor, the first two means that, unlike in the United States, it is very uncommon for an investor to get a good deal by looking out for which properties can be repossessed, and then buying them up cheap from the mortgage company by cash in hand.

Many market opportunities that do exist today are looking out for people with properties that could be repossessed, and negotiating deals with them that leave them better off than repossession.

Rio De Janerio Becomes First South American City To Host Olympic Games

leave a comment

South America will host the Summer Olympic Games for the first time in 2016, as Rio De Janeiro, Brazil was awarded the honor on Friday. Rio beat out the US choice of Chicago, Illinois along with Tokyo, Japan and Madrid, Spain to earn the right to host the games. Despite a high pressure effort from the American power elite–including President Barack Obama and TV gabfest queen Oprah Winfrey–Chicago was the first city eliminated from contention. Tokyo was the next to go, before Rio got the nod over Madrid in the final round of balloting.

Bookmakers offered odds on the host city choice, with Rio listed as second favorite at +200. Chicago had been the wagering favorite at most books, particularly after President Obama got involved personally in the US bid effort. Chicago was bet as high as a -300 favorite, while Madrid and Tokyo were priced in the +250 range. Some suggest that Tokyo didnt deserve to have such short odds, but was the beneficiary of regional pride from the notoriously enthusiastic betting population of Japan. Despite some media attention to the betting odds, bookmakers reported that they didn’t receive a lot of action on the event.

Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, got the better of his US counterpart Barack Obama The Brazilian leader stressed the unfairness that South America had never hosted the games in his speech to the committee;

“It is a time to address this imbalance. It is time to light the Olympic cauldron in a tropical country.”

The Olympic committee was apparently swayed by this presentation and paid no mind to Rios many downsides. It is without a doubt the most dangerous of the finalist cities, where drug cartels and armed bands of thugs roam without impunity. Well do to Rio citizens are used to removing watches and jewelry before they drive anywhere lest they be targeted by carjacking brigands. Rios murder rate is also one of the highest in the world. Brazilian bid officials have stressed that security will be a priority at the games and it better be lest the Olympics turn into a bloodbath.

Some IOC members suggested that the summary dismissal of Chicagos bid was more of a rebuke of the notoriously corrupt USOC. The last two Olympics held in the US were tainted by crime and corruption. The’96 Atlanta Olympics were disrupted by a terrorist bombing, while the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Games were marred by a well known bribery and corruption scandal.
